Animal fostering is not as common as one might think, and it is one of the most effective ways to save animal lives! We know foster parents are the real MVPs! Whether you’re a seasoned foster parent or new to the game; shelters and rescues depend on you to give animals a safe, warm, and friendly home to start their new journey as a loved pet.
HOW DOES FOSTERING WORK?
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
Just like adopting through The Boop Project, we want the right animals in the right homes with the right humans. When you tell us a little about your home environment, time schedule, personality preferences, etc., we’ll use our super matchig skills to find you the best possible foster match.
BOOP YOUR HEART OUT
Whether this isn’t your first rodeo with a pet or you’re thinking about doing a trial run for pet ownership for the first time, fostering is a great way to save animal lives without altering your life for the next decade or so. We’ll notify you when animals match your preferences for fostering. Review the profiles and BOOP the ones you like! Once you’re ready to meet that cutie who needs your love, it’s time to connect with the rescue or shelter. You can also easily submit a foster application through the app.
CHAT WITH THE ANIMAL SHELTER OR RESCUE ABOUT FOSTERING
Set up a time with the shelter or rescue to meet the animal in person. They may ask more questions, do a home visit, or ask for references to ensure the animal’s safety if it’s your first time fostering. But it’s so worth it!

Our Hero! When you foster, you’ll not only help animals find the confidence they to be the best version of themselves, you’ll be an integral part of discovering the all the little personality traits that we’ll need to match them with their best possible forever home! Go Team! Use the app to update their profiles with all their new mad skillz you taught them, their preferences, and share cute pics and videos. The more information you put in about them, the better their chances are of finding the right forever home! Make sure that the shelter or rescue marks on the app that you are using the app while fostering. We have surprises and benefits only available for pets being fostered in conjunction with The Boop Project.

Share your foster pet's profile, cute pics. and videos on the app's social media feed to reach potential forever paw-rents or just because they're cute! (You can also share it to other social media outlets that you might still be using.)
FOSTER FAQs
Yes! We’ll only match you with a rescue animals that are known to thrive in the company of other pets. Let us know in your profile what other animals you have and we’ll find a foster who would love to have sleepovers with new friends.
Think of it this way. You’re like a fairy dog parent – not the happily ever after. You’re just helping them get to the ball!
Also, the more animals you foster, the more lives you save! If you adopt, you save one life. If you foster, you could save many! But really, there’s nothing wrong with a good ‘ol Foster Fail.
Yes! The truth is whether you’ve got two weeks or two months to foster, every little bit helps. It’s pretty common that other foster parents just need someone to take over fostering for a short time while they go on vacation. So it’s like you’re giving the animal a little vacay, too! Just fill in your available dates in your profile, and we’ll notify you when there’s a match!
The shelter or rescue provides the food and covers all medical costs unless stated otherwise.
Did you know that any non-reimbursed expenses you acquire while fostering an animal through The Boop Project is tax deductible? We only match animals from verified 501(c)3 organizations. Therefore, treats, toys, beds, leashes, etc. that you purchase while fostering is considered a tax write-off!*
