API Key Instructions

We'll import your animals and update their official status every 24 hours.


ShelterLuv

Step 1: Log In to Shelterluv
  • Go to Shelterluv and log in with your shelter’s administrative account. Only users with administrative access can create API keys.
Step 2: Navigate to the API Settings
  • Once logged in, click on the Settings icon (gear symbol) in the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard.
  • In the Settings menu, look for the API Keys option under the “General” or “Integrations” section.
Step 3: Create a New API Key
  • Once in the API Keys section, click the Create New API Key button.
  • Enter a descriptive name for the key, such as the purpose (e.g., “The Boop Project” or “Petfinder Sync”).
  • Select the access permissions associated with the API key, depending on what functionality is needed (e.g., read-only (required), read/write access (optional if you want to let fosters parent update descriptions and images).
  • Click Save or Generate Key to create the API key.
Step 4: Copy the API Key
  • After generating the API key, Shelterluv will display the key. Copy it immediately, as you may not be able to view it again.
  • Store this API key securely—don’t share it with unauthorized individuals or outside of secure channels.
Step 5: Email the API Key to The Boop Project
  • Send the API Key via email to technical support. Paste the API Key into the body of the email and inlcude the following:
    API Key
    Shelter's Name
    Website URL
    Name of Shelter Managment Software
    Contact name
    Contact Email

Petstablished

Step 1: Log In to Petstablished
  • Go to Petstablished and log in with your shelter’s administrative account. Only users with administrative access can create API keys.
Step 2: Navigate to the Organization Settings
  • After logging in, look at the top of the dashboard and click on the Organization tab.
  • From the dropdown menu, select Organization Settings to access the settings page.
Step 3: Open API Settings
  • Scroll down through the settings page until you find the API Settings section.
  • Here, you will see options to generate and manage API keys for your organization.
Step 4: Create a New API Key
  • In the API Settings section, click the Generate New API Key button.
  • A dialog box will prompt you to give your new API key a label or name. Use a descriptive name, such as “Website Integration” or “Adoption Listings.”
  • Once you've labeled the key, click Generate.
Step 5: Copy and Store the API Key
  • After generating the API key, Petstablished will display the key. Copy it immediately, as you may not be able to view it again.
  • Store this API key securely in a password manager or other secure place, especially if you will use it in external integrations.
Step 6: Email the API Key to The Boop Project
  • Send the API Key via email to technical support. Paste the API Key into the body of the email and inlcude the following:
    API Key
    Shelter's Name
    Website URL
    Name of Shelter Managment Software
    Contact name
    Contact Email

Chameleon

Step 1: Log In to Chameleon
  • Go to your Chameleon instance and log in using your administrative account. Only users with administrative permissions can create and manage API keys.
Step 2: Navigate to System Settings
  • From the Chameleon dashboard, click on the Administration tab or menu.
  • In the dropdown options, find and select System Settings or API Settings.
Step 3: Access the API Management Section
  • Once in the System Settings, scroll to locate the API Management or Integrations section.
  • Here, you will find options to create and manage API keys for external services.
Step 4: Create a New API Key
  • Click the Create New API Key or Generate API Key button.
  • Provide a name for your API key. Make sure to name it something relevant like “Website Integration” or “Mobile App Adoption Widget.”
  • Set the appropriate permissions for the API key, such as read-only, write, or full access, depending on your integration needs.
  • Click Save or Generate Key to complete the process.
Step 5: Copy and Secure the API Key
  • Once the key is generated, Chameleon will display the API key. Make sure to copy it immediately, as it may not be retrievable again.
  • Store the key securely, such as in a password manager or other secure location, and do not share it with unauthorized personnel.
Step 6: Email the API Key to The Boop Project
  • Send the API Key via email to technical support. Paste the API Key into the body of the email and inlcude the following:

    Website URL
    Name of Shelter Managment Software
    Contact name
    Contact Email

PetPoint

Step 1: Log In to PetPoint
  • Go to PetPoint and log in using your shelter’s **administrative account**.
Step 2: Navigate to System Admin
  • Once logged in, click on the Admin tab or menu at the top of the dashboard.
  • From the dropdown, select System Admin to access your shelter’s system settings.
Step 3: Open the API Management Section
  • Scroll down to locate the API Settings or API Management section in the System Admin area.
  • Here, you can manage API keys for external integrations.
Step 4: Create a New API Key
  • Click the Create New API Key or Generate API Key button.
  • Give your new API key a descriptive name, such as "Adoption Website Integration" or "Mobile App Sync."
  • Select the appropriate **permissions** for the API key, such as read-only, write, or full access.
  • Click Save or Generate to create the API key.
Step 5: Copy and Store the API Key
  • Once the API key is generated, PetPoint will display it. **Copy** it immediately, as it may not be viewable again later.
  • Store the API key securely in a password manager or other secure location, and avoid sharing it with unauthorized personnel.
